ST. PETER’S — Parts of Richmond County are currently experiencing a power outage on Wednesday.

Nova Scotia Power’s outage map reported early Wednesday an outage encompassing Grand Anse, Cannes, River Bourgeois, River Tillard, the western side of St. Peter’s and Seaview areas.

According to Nova Scotia Power spokesperson Mina Atia, a pole insulator malfunction, causing an outage in River Bourgeois.

"This pole is off road and not accessible by our utility trucks so our crews will have to climb the pole to make repairs," Atia said via email.

The outage was first reported late Tuesday just before 11 p.m., affecting around 550 customers.

Initial restoration time was estimated to be 6 p.m., but Atia said, "Crews have updated the estimated restoration time to 2 p.m."

As of 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, only two minors outages are under investigation, but the earlier reported outage appeared to be fixed.
